Savary Island is known for its white sand beaches, beautiful swimming waters, and stunning ocean and mountain views. It is home to a range of highly sensitive ecosystems, including sand cliffs and dune meadows. Located 128 km north of Vancouver, the island is home to about 100 people year-round, but the population increases with vacation homeowners and visitors in the summer. The island is 1 kilometer wide at its widest point and 7.5 kilometers long. There are no bears, cougars, or raccoons on Savary Island. For lodging, there are a few bed and breakfasts, but no campground on the island.

Located a few kilometers away from Savary Island is the picturesque seaside village of Lund, which has around 300 year-round residents. The population increases in the summer as visitors come to enjoy Lund’s charm. Lund is the gateway to Desolation Sound Provincial Park, the Copeland Islands, Okeover Inlet, and the Sunshine Coast Trail. Sightseeing boats and kayak tour operators offer easy access to the area’s ocean wildlife, including seals, sealions, dolphins, humpback whales, and orca whales.

North of Lund Harbour is the pristine Copeland Islands Marine Park (also known as the Ragged Islands), which stretches towards the world-renowned Desolation Sound. Another route to Desolation Sound is along Okeover Inlet, past the oyster farms and through Malaspina Inlet. Both waterways are popular with sport fishers, pleasure boaters, kayakers, and scuba divers, who appreciate the excellent underwater visibility and abundant sea life. On the way back, we will refuel in Powell River and have dinner onboard at sea or in town.
